I am a network engineer. No, not train networks. My partner has often asked me to help her describe to friends and family what it is I actually do. I refrain from arrogantly confirming that the role of a network engineer underpins our technological society as we know it! Instead, I confirm I am in fact an internet plumber.
The purpose of this .blog is to share my existing knowledge whilst forcing me to a more in-depth level of understanding, to be able to share and help as others have shared and helped me. Throughout the years I have used many blogs to help me in times of crisis, those early morning outages mid change or better still those golden nuggets of information that are gleaned hours before you push the config.
I started my journey to CCNA with bad grades and some pirated copies of CBT Nuggets (Thank you Jeremy), that initial exposure and the need to learn more about how it all worked has thrust me kneck deep into a career in networking.
Over a decade in the industry a CCNP SP in the bag and some years wrangling Service Provider (SP) and Data Center (DC) networks I am keen to progress with my DCCOR studies whilst sharing my understanding of how it all works. I’ll keep it technical with some higher-level spiel in places.
If you’ve made it this far then thank you, I hope what I share digs you out of that mid change hole or prevents you from falling in.
